Growing excitement!

I just wanted to say that Josh and I get more and more excited each day!!! We can't wait for the reunion!!

Luke would like to propose...

Luke would like to propose that one day the men go golfing (and the women stay with the kids) and the next day the women do what they want to do (golf, spa, whatever is out there) That way, the husbands/wives take care of their own kids on alternating days, no need to take the kids with us.
Andru, Jarrett, Josh, Dad...are you up for golfing?!
Marilee, Kiera, Tori, Mom...are you up for some golfing/girl fun?!

Food

So, when I originally talked to mom, she said that each family should take a day and be in charge of food. I didn't know if that meant ALL day or just dinner.

Here's an idea:

Breakfast: Why don't we buy a bunch of cereal at Sam's Club (variety of course), maybe some eggs, lots of milk, orange juice, and yogurt.
Lunch: Buy several loaves of bread, deli sliced meat, cheese, mayo, mustard, etc. for sandwiches. Maybe some tortillas (for quesadillas, etc)
Dinner: Each family is given a day to be in charge. They must provide enough food for everyone. (If there is a grill..that would be awesome.) Doesn't have to be too much or too detailed, but think about the kids and adults. I already know what we are going to make...pretty easy, simple, and is ready in just a few minutes! (dinnertime quesadillas) Livi like this and since Spencer doesn't like anything... we just give him the Chicken off it.

I think that the days we are traveling to/from the cabin and when we are at the Dells could be days we just eat out on our own. What do you all think? (So, Saturday the 16th, Saturday the 23rd and whatever day we go to the Dells we'll get our own food or go out to eat together.)

Also, what if we do the days in order (or we can pick out of a hat ;)

Sunday: ??
Monday: Andru & Marilee
Tuesday: Jarrett & Tori
Wednesday: Katie & Luke
Thursday: Kiera & Josh
Friday: Pizza (or this day can be switched whatever day we go to the Dells)

-I love salads...so Grilled Chicken Salads, Chopper Salad, Oriental Chinese Salad (I'm sure I'll be making a bunch of these!!! Yummy!)

Activities

So, I have bought some "Activity books" that the kids would really like! I have a craft book and also a science experiment book... I was thinking that once a day for a hour or so we could do either a craft with the kids (I have different crafts for different age levels) or an easy science experiment--basically it's a book of how to safely blow things up--fun for everyone! What do you all think?

Proposals

Luke and I were thinking about making SHIRTS for the reunion. Nothing too much and not too stupid. Even if no one else wants to do it, we are going to.

When we lived in Kansas, you could go get a shirt done with A LOT of writing for $5-6. All you had to do was bring in a shirt and they would do it for you. So, we are thinking Hanes white shirts (or colored per family) with a "Blonquist Family Reunion 2008" on the front (over your heart--not too big) and then on the back, your family's last name.

IE:

Front:
Blonquist Family Reunion 2008

Back:
Katie or Kirkham Family or whatever

Obviously, these are up for debate and we thought it would be fun for at least the kids to have. Let me know what you think. Please don't think that these are going to be ugly ( I'm sure you have visions of what some families do or at least the camp shirts :) or that you even have to do them...just a fun idea!! (An extra shirt to get dirty while painting or whatever!)

Katie, this is a good site, but I can't read the different things because the colors are too close to each other...the site isn't letting me change the colors of the fonts and so I was wondering if you could do that...

Also, I now mom and dad wanted to put together a little "olympics" event for the week...I think that is a great idea....we need to think of events for it...relays, sit-ups, push-ups, etc....

First Post

Although Andru's doesn't really like blogs, I am starting this Blonquist Family Reunion Blog. I know that we have myfamily.com...but this seemed like the perfect spot to get ALL the information for the family reunion out AND not to necessarily overburden the family site.

This site is open to ALL BLONQUIST FAMILY MEMBERS. Here you can add whatever ideas you want, and the "officials" (Noel and Uschi this year) will be able to use or veto the idea.

I am not sure who has next year...or in two years or how often we are going to do it. So, let's lay it all out here. Since I know the girls (Katie, Kiera and Tori) are all about hanging out and getting together, I bet we are going to be the main contributors to this blog...nonetheless, we want ALL opinions and ideas.
